Championship Award Dedication
April 5, 1960 – April 23, 2026
This year’s Championship Award was presented in memory of Debra Lynn Thompson, a woman of strong faith, selfless service, and unwavering love for her community.
She was always willing to lend a helping hand, encourage others, and make a difference wherever she went.
Debra’s life was about more than what she accomplished; it was about the pathway she created for others to follow. Through her faith, kindness, and commitment to serving those around her, she left footprints that will continue to guide the next generation.
As we honor her memory, may we be inspired to carry forward her legacy by serving others, uplifting our communities, and creating opportunities for those who come after us.

Summer Slam Session
A Signature Community Event
Summer Slam Session is Generational Opportunities' annual community basketball event that brings together youth, families, volunteers, local businesses, and community leaders for a day of competition, creativity, and connection.
Hosted in partnership with the City of Thornton during ThorntonFest, the event provides free youth participation, community engagement, mentorship opportunities, live entertainment, local vendors, and meaningful partnerships that strengthen our community.
Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, volunteers, and donors, Summer Slam continues to grow each year, creating opportunities for young people to compete, build relationships, and be recognized for their effort, character, and leadership.
We look forward to welcoming our community back for Summer Slam Session 2027.
